8th December, 2010

Come Friday (17th), Rhob is going to be supporting Villagers in Limerick’s St Johns Church and then again on Saturday (18th) in Galway’s Black Box.
This is decidedly gleeful news. HUZZAH!

As for New Year’s Eve, well, holy jebuz, maybe it’s best we just click here!

be safe, be joyous, be well!

19th November, 2010

What’s that?
A sweet gig in Waterford’s Forum tonight with Túcan and Donal Dineen?
Then tomorrow night, Dublin’s Workman’s Club with Maeve Higgins?
Don’t mind if we do!

8th November, 2010

Having recently completed national tours with the likes of Cathy Davey & Villagers, and opened for such luminaries as Tori Amos, Kristin Hersh and Gil Scott Heron, Dublin band Our Little Secrets are returning home for a headline show with special guests as well as being accompanied by comedienne Maeve Higgins, in The Workman’s Club on Saturday, November 20th.

The appetiser before the night’s main course will be provided by the significant talents of comedienne Maeve Higgins. That is not intended to be taken in the literal sense though; food may or may not be served. Higgins is one of Ireland’s most beloved comedians, who loves nothing more than getting up on a stage with a microphone and presenting you with an evening of fun, jokes and maybe even some hard-hitting financial advice if the situation calls for it. She is rarer than a blessing of unicorns, original, and relatively calm. Seriously, need we say more?!

19th October, 2010

Allow us to send love and infinite thankyous to the fair-minded folk that
attended the Cathy Davey tour this month – from the glórious ennis opener,
through every dulcet duet with Elaine Okeeffe,
from the full band dublin rock-outery to the
“oh hey, there’s ber, oh shite, what’re the lyrics” cork night,
…all through to waterford’s knees up with keith & steve sneaking on for the last couple of songs.
each moment a doozie! x

(if you haven’t checked out the song universe tipping from her new album the nameless,
let it say hello!)

nextly, a couple of the guys will be heading north westerly for some sligo action come fridayly!

biography

Our Little Secrets is an album… kind of. It was a band at times, too, y'see?

The collective efforts of chief composer Rhob Cunningham and a wilful band of like-minded cohorts. The project took four days to record, some moons to overdub (trumpets, fiddles and vocals) and many favours to get mixed and mastered. Making the self-released physical cd itself took a bit of time too. The artwork was all drawn by Alan Holly and the font was formed by Adrien Merigeau. The design was done by their powers combined. They're good guys, those guys.

Over the course of the last year, umpteen headline gigs took place around Ireland, as well as a show or two in London & Berlin. Rhob & co. also played countless support slots in varying semblances & guises, sharing stages with, among others: Gil Scott Heron, Villagers, Tori Amos, Cathy Davey, Kristin Hersh, Turin Brakes, Jennifer Evans, Mundy, James McMorrow, Damien Jurado & Lisa Hannigan.

Sporting the considerable talents of Cathy Davey, Lisa Hannigan and Jenny Lindfors on vocal duties, the album was produced by the venerable Gavin Glass and mixed by Keith Farrell (The Duckworth Lewis Method). Mastered in the late Liam Clancy's studio in Dungarvan, the album features the strumming, hitting and plucking of Cormac Curran (Villagers/Cathy Davey), Ross Turner (Jape/I Am The Cosmos), Shane Holly (Jennifer Evans & The Ripe Intent) and other assorted family and friends. Ber Quinn recorded and mixed Naturesway, for which he was given a large bottle of wine.

It was released quite triumphantly in May 2010, nationally and on iTunes.
